Gary Castillo is a specialist in field outreach and education for the Almond Board of California covering the southern region of the Central Valley. Acting as a point of contact for growers, he connects them with information and other resources they may need and is passionate about finding ways to help. Gary also heads the continuing education efforts at events and seminars hosted by ABC.
In his previous role, he worked as an irrigation specialist providing field-specific weekly irrigation recommendations for about 8,000 acres of various crops – predominantly almonds – in a region from Fresno to Porterville.
Gary is originally from Modesto and moved in 2012 to attend CSU Fresno, where he earned a bachelor’s in agriculture, and he continues to live in Fresno. Outside of work, Gary enjoys being outdoors, going on adventures and spending time with friends and family.
