Tom Devol is the senior manager of field outreach and education leading a team focused on interfacing between growers and industry research and resources. The team provides ongoing education to help growers tackle the challenges of understanding and applying technologies as part of their daily farming operations.
Tom has long been one of the industry’s most forward-looking and outspoken advocates for the use of technology in agriculture. Starting in agriculture as an irrigation designer with growers in northern California, he found a passion for field monitoring and ag technologies. For over two decades, he worked with farming operations across the country, leveraging plant, soil and weather sensing tools to enable growers to monitor and control their irrigations more effectively and produce more crop per drop with limited resources.
Prior to joining ABC, he was honored to serve as a mentor to ABC’s Almond Leadership Program and was a member on the Global Communications Committee. Tom is proud of the three kids he helped raise and now spends much of his time hiking around the world with his wife, Peg. In 2022, they walked the width of Spain along the pilgrimage path Camino de Santiago.
