The Almond Board of California (ABC) European food professional team exhibited at Food Ingredients Europe 2015 (FiE) in Paris last December. The event provided multiple touchpoints to engage with target audiences, including the popular California Almond Solutions Sessions at the ABC booth with renowned British food designer and culinary creator, David Bradley. Bradley is better known as The Curious Confectioner. Chef Bradley developed a range of innovative snack concepts to bring to life the distinctive crunch, texture, nutritious appeal and versatile forms that make almonds the global Nut of Choice.
Innovative California Almond snack creations at FiE included:
- Chocolate Honey-Roasted Almond Butter Balls: Sweet and salty chocolate truffles, dusted with a honey-roasted almond crumb. In this recipe, pairing the finest California Almonds with sticky Medjool dates creates an indulgent, but dairy and gluten-free, nut butter that forms a caramel-style center for this silky smooth mouthful. Make it at home with this recipe.
- The Super Smart Almond Biscuit Bar
- Almond Nut ‘Cheese’
- Crunchy Almond Trail Mix Clusters
- Chocolate Almond Gluten-Free Donut
ABC also hosted a seminar in partnership with Innova Market Insights’ director of Innovations, Lu Ann Williams. The seminar, entitled “Snacking Appetites and Applications: The Latest Nutrition Research and Consumer Trends Influencing New Product Development,” focused on the latest nutrition research and consumer snacking trends influencing new-product development and application.
Foot traffic was down considerably due to security concerns in Paris following the terrorist attacks. The team, however, made the most of opportunities with attendees and media. Fi Global interviewed Chef Bradley and European Regional Director Dariela Roffe-Rackind on camera at the ABC booth, and the video was broadcast throughout the show.
