Harvest Practices and Equipment Demo Featured at Orchard Workshop

6/27/2016

Come see new harvest equipment demonstrated in an orchard near you at the third and final event of the Almond Board of California educational sustainability1 workshop series. The two in-orchard workshops will take place July 7 in Fresno and July 8 in Arbuckle.

At these field demos, you will:

  • View new harvest equipment in action with discussions by manufacturers’ reps;
  • Receive information from Natural Resources Conservation Service about incentive funding for use of low-dust harvest equipment;
  • Learn about research-based strategies to reduce harvest dust by adjusting sweepers and harvesters to match local conditions; and
  • See demonstrations of online tools — the nitrogen calculator, mapping tool and irrigation calculator.

Workshops begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at noon with a complimentary lunch included. There is no fee to attend.

For the Fresno workshop on July 7, meet at the Fresno State Orchard Field House; enter off Chestnut Ave. ¼ mile north of Barstow Ave.

For the Arbuckle workshop, go to the Nickels Soil Lab on Greenbay Rd. between Wildwood Rd. and California Ave.

Please RSVP to Rebecca Bailey at rbailey@almondboard.com or call her at (209) 343-3245.
