CANCELLED: Training Session Addresses Tools, Techniques for Efficient Irrigation Management

1/26/2017

This event will be rescheduled.

Almond growers are invited to attend an irrigation training session presented by Almond Board of California (ABC), to be held in Williams on Feb. 20. Growers who have been awarded grants from the State Water Efficiency and Enhancement Program (SWEEP) fund to improve water use efficiency are encouraged to attend to learn more about the effective use of their new or upgraded equipment.

Speakers will cover:

  • Use of evapotranspiration (ET) for irrigation scheduling;
  • The importance of distribution uniformity (DU) and how to perform a DU test; and
  • How to use real-time soil moisture sensing to make irrigation decisions.

Additionally, almond growers will have the opportunity to participate in the California Almond Sustainability Program (CASP). CASP is led by ABC and uses collective data from growers on their farming practices to demonstrate the sustainability of our industry to stakeholders — buyers, regulators and consumers — and helps growers find ways to increase production efficiencies. Tools and techniques to improve grower efficiency will be demonstrated.

The training will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Feb. 20 at Granzella’s Banquet Hall in Williams, and is open to all tree nut growers and allied industry members. A complimentary lunch will be served.

To RSVP, contact Spencer Cooper by Feb. 14.
