Did you know that 70% of consumers worldwide would choose chocolate with nuts over plain chocolate? Furthermore, almonds are perceived as the best fit for nuts within chocolate.1
Those are just two of the trends heard at this year’s Almond Conference during the session “Almonds and Chocolate: Trends, Science and Consumers All Agree Almonds and Chocolate Are a Perfect Match,” presented by Rob Renegar, senior insights manager at Sterling-Rice Group.
The research found that almonds are not just the top nut to be paired with chocolate, but the No. 1 ingredient selected to create the ideal chocolate bar.1
What makes this pairing so special? According to consumers, the following were their top reasons for choosing almonds: They are more nutritious than other added ingredients (82%), crunchier (81%), more filling (77%) and overall tastier (77%).1
