Almond Leadership Fundraiser Teed Up to be a Hole in One

8/31/2018

For the past three years, participants of the Almond Leadership Program have worked together to raise funds for the California FFA Foundation’s scholarship program. These efforts have traditionally consisted of a silent and live auction at The Almond Conference, as well as a Golden Ticket fundraiser. This year, however, promises to be a whole new ball game — literally.

“We’ll still have the two auctions, but we are a pretty competitive class and we were given a goal that we would love to beat,” said Josh Krueger, 2018 Leadership participant. “So, we came up with a way to raise additional funds for California FFA."

This October, the 2018 Leadership class is hosting the program’s first-ever golf tournament in an effort to surpass their goal of raising $20,000 for scholarship recipients — and the whole industry is invited to participate!

The Almond Board of California and Almond Leadership Class invite you to join the fun on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Dragonfly Golf Club, located at 43369 Avenue 12 in Madera, California.

Entry into the tournament is $150 per person and $500 per group of four. Several sponsorship opportunities are also available: The Super Ticket - $50; Tee Box Sponsorship - $150; Birdie Sponsorship - $1000; Eagle Sponsorship - $1500; and Ace Sponsorship - $2000.

“FFA is an amazing youth program that many of us in the Almond Leadership class went through, and we really see this as a way to give back,” Krueger said. “Of course, if we can have some fun golfing while completing our main goal then that would be icing on the cake!”

Tournament entry will include 18 holes of golf, plus breakfast and lunch. Prizes will be awarded for best score (first, second, third), Longest Drive, Hole in One, Closest to the Pin and 50/50 Contest.

Krueger hopes that this will not only be a great way to raise funds but also an opportunity to network with fellow industry members and take a well-deserved breather to help close out harvest.

“We tried to plan this tournament at the tail end of when harvest should be wrapping up for most almond growers, so my hope is this is a chance to have some fun after what is naturally a long and stressful season,” Krueger said.

To enter the tournament, please fill out this entry form and return it to Rebecca Bailey at 1150 Ninth St, Suite 1500, Modesto, CA 95354 or rbailey@almondboard.com.
